Gregory Robin (b.1976) is currently Visiting Instructor of Music Composition and Theory at Jacksonville State University. He has studied composition with C.P. First and served as graduate assistant to Tristan Murail and Mario Davidovsky. Currently ABD in Composition at the University of Alabama, Mr. Robin also holds a MM in Guitar performance from the University of South Carolina and a BM in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Gregory's current work focuses on the role of timbre and articulation as a motivic device and how this can create hierarchies in a composition's pitch structure. 2008 highlightsGregory was named as an alternate winner to the SOUNDSCAPE 2008 festival in Pavia, Italy. S.P. for solo trombone was premiered June 3rd by trombonist Steve Parker at the Steinway Center in Anchorage, Alaska. It was also played at the Bang on a Can Summer Festival at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Trio for flute, violin, and piano was released on the Beauport Classical label. |
